The founders of Sun Valley carry an expansive history of advocating for patients and the medical benefits of cannabis. Diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis while at university in Colorado, one of the founders got his medical card in 2005 and has undergone certification nearly a dozen times in the last decade. An entrepreneur as well as a lifelong advocate of medical marijuana, when he and his wife moved to Arizona, they were shocked at the lack of professional clinical certification centers where patients could safely receive care. This strong reaction was coupled with the recent loss of his parents within two years of each other to pancreatic cancer and ALS, two diseases that, if they had consented to use it, medical marijuana could have helped. So as to aid patients like his parents, alongside his wife’s 15 years of experience in clinical management, the founders built their first clinic in 2013 using their honeymoon savings. Since that time they have expanded their practice to three locations in Arizona serving more than 15% of all Arizona medical marijuana patients, and most recently opened their Las Vegas office in Nevada.

At Sun Valley, they’ve turned the uncertain process of getting medical marijuana certification into a safe, professional experience. Their multiple facilities operate as a legitimate doctor’s office, with a team of certified physicians at each of their offices six days a week. They developed a custom-made electronic medical record system that manages all data, including patient details, follow-up reminders and channels of communication that are entirely paperless and HIPAA compliant. Sun Valley handles the entire evaluation and recommendation process from start to finish. Patients sit side-by-side with a local medical cannabis specialist, sharing a computer screen and completing the process with full transparency, tracking the application until the patient is approved.

The entire process is choreographed into 15-minute blocks, exacting Sun Valley MMJ’s appointment process to an exact science, while most full-service appointments take up to three times as long.
